Don't Bury The Pain, Use It

In life you may have experienced your fair share of bad breaks and disappointments: people may have treated you unfairly, you had a difficult childhood, you suffered a terminal illness, someone you love dearly breaks your heart. As painful as those situations may have been, don’t allow the experience go in vain. Use the lessons learnt to become a better person and to help others. Don’t see the experiences as wounds but as opportunities.

I read about a multi-millionaire who had a rough childhood. At a very young age his mother left him in the care of his father and wanted nothing to do with him. His dad being young and immature; his idea of child upbringing was military style. This multi-millionaire talked about how difficult life was as a young boy. He had to work really hard to gain his father’s approval and love. Nonetheless; his difficult childhood taught him disciple, independence and diligence. These skills became invaluable and instrumental in establishing his company. By the time he was in his twenties, he was already making millions. He used his experience of a difficult childhood to become a successful businessman.

Your experience may have really hurt, but don’t let it waste. I like to say that the pain of a negative experience is not the experience itself; it’s in having not learnt the lesson. There’s a lesson to be learnt from every experience, don’t loose yours because of the pain or anger you feel. Use it to become a better person and to make life a better place for others. If you were left broken hearted, now you know how it feels; when next you love someone, show them how to love by loving deeply and sincerely, if you had a difficult childhood, look out for young people who you can inspire and support so they don’t have to experience the pain and loneliness you experienced. If you were treated unfairly, find every opportunity to treat people fairly. So instead of being bitter and cold because of what you’ve been through, you can become a symbol of strength and inspiration.
