What Blending @ 2am Taught Me

Just before you go hold on Christiana, what's a blender doing on your blog. Let me explain.
Last weekend was really busy. My week was already crazy enough and then we had a guest coming over the weekend which meant cleaning and cooking (the cooking was self imposed) and to make it even more crazy, Otonye's birthday was on monday and her braids were due for new ones, which meant a few hours of washing and conditioning and then off to the hairdressers on sat for another few hours of braiding (am already exhausted).

Nonetheless, I was bent on cooking on friday night so our guest had some "home made" food when he arrived on saturday. By the time I was through with Otonye's hair, it was way past 11pm - and don't you even think of saying wow!! did she go to bed that late - yes she did and need i remind you that there's nothing a 7yr old likes more than, movies, ice cream and popcorn (ok we didn't have popcorn) and late nights + it was a friday :-))

So I started my cooking after 11pm and still found myself blending, chopping and wrapping until after 2am. But here's the lesson it thought me  - when you really want something, and you put your heart to it, you'll get it. If you put your heart to getting what you want, you'll find a way to get it done. Of course my Saturday was busy, I managed to only squeeze in 3 hours sleep (naughty, naughty)  before getting up to other commitments but I had no regrets. The fulfillment of having accomplished what I needed to do was more rewarding + I caught up on the missed sleep the next day.

So often, you have dreams and goals and "wish lists" etc and you somehow hope you'll be able to accomplish them in the future, but the future starts with today. Stop hoping and wishing and waiting. Tomorrow starts today. Do what you have to do to get your goals started, to get that dream, that life you long for. Put in the sacrifice today, so that tomorrow will yield abundant returns. Take the Olympic medalist for example, they have to train so hard for years and years, nobody sees them waking up at 5am to train or being away from family and friends to commit themselves to their goal, but when they win that medal, it's displayed for the whole world to see and the hard work is usually nothing compared to the joy and fulfillment they experience.

Don't wait for your life to begin, start today. You deserve a better life, business, career, relationship, you deserve a better whatever you want but only you can make it happen. It may require sacrifice now, some really hard commitments, a dogged decision to get started and stay focused. It may require all that and more but if you do today what needs to be done, tomorrow will be far more rewarding than you imagined.

I always love to hear from you. How has this article inspired you and what are you going to start doing differently. Share this with anyone who needs to be inspired to take action.
